Jersey Tide Times (jerseytidetimes.je) is a free public information site showing tide times, weather and sea conditions for Jersey. We have built it to collect as little information about you as possible.

The short version

There are no accounts and no logins, and we do not ask you for personal information. If you accept our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics (which sets its own cookies) to understand how the site is used; it stays off until then. We set no other cookies of our own, and we run no advertising.

Information we collect

Nothing you type. The site has no sign-up, no contact form and no comments, so there is nothing for us to collect from you directly.

Standard server records. Like any website, our hosting and our content delivery network (Cloudflare) process basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used only to serve pages and to keep the site secure and available, not to build a profile of you. Cloudflare may set essential security cookies to protect the site from abuse.

Where the tide, weather and sea data come from

Tide, weather and sea-temperature information is fetched by our servers from third parties: the UK Hydrographic Office (ADMIRALTY) for tides, NOAA (aviation weather observations) and the UK Met Office for weather, Jersey Met and Open-Meteo for sea temperature and sea state. These requests are made by us and contain no information about you.

Third-party content loaded in your browser

Some beach pages show aerial imagery supplied by Esri (ArcGIS). When those images load, your browser contacts Esri’s servers, which may log your IP address and standard request details under Esri’s own privacy policy. Links on the site to Google Maps (for directions), to our Facebook page, and to other websites take you to services that are governed by their own privacy policies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (provided by Google) to understand how many people visit and which pages are useful, so we can improve the site — but only after you choose Accept on our cookie banner. Until then, no analytics scripts or cookies load at all. Once enabled, it sets cookies in your browser and collects standard usage data such as the pages you view, approximate location derived from your IP address (which Google truncates), device and browser type, and how you reached the site. We do not use it for advertising and we do not try to identify you personally.

You can change your choice at any time in your cookie settings, opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies for this site in your browser settings.

Our Facebook page

We run an automated poster that publishes public tide information to our own Jersey Tide Times Facebook page each morning. It only publishes posts. It does not collect, store, request or share any personal data about Facebook users, page visitors, or anyone who interacts with the page or its posts. We do not use Facebook Login and we request no access to your Facebook information. Anything you do on Facebook itself is governed by Facebook’s own privacy policy.

Your information is not sold or shared

We do not sell, rent or trade information about visitors, and we do not share it with third parties except the hosting, security and analytics providers described above that are necessary to run and improve the site.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above.
